Mat System - 56 hours

  • Session 1: 28 hours
  • Session 2: 28 hours

Lolita San Miguel believes the Mat work is the basis of the Pilates Method and it is the most accessible to all students. This Module teaches the historic order, contemporary movements, as well as pre-Pilates, and post Pilates movements that will prepare and condition your body to work on the floor using only your own body weight as resistance. Although traditionally the Mat work was designed by Joseph Pilates as the accomplishment of his technique, Lolita developed and integrated further movements into the the traditional work to enable your body to perform at its best ability.

In addition to repertoire,  Matwork in Lolita's Legacy™ is accompanied by the following manuals, materials and further course topics:

    • Manual of "the Anatomy of Movement and Kinematic" created especially for the program by Dr. Aaron Spector.
    • Introduction and Overview of the Pilates method, which deals with the history of the creators of the method and the all "Elder Master Teachers".
    • Philosophy and Principles of Joseph Pilates and Ms. San Miguel.
    • Fundamentals, benefits and values of the Pilates practice.
    • A DVD of Ms. San Miguel's workshop on the history of Pilates filmed for Pilates Anytime including one month free subscription to Pilates Anytime.
    • Two Mat work repertoire DVDs taught by Ms. San Miguel in person.

    Program Description

Lolita’s Legacy Pilates Teacher Training Program is a fully comprehensive 500-hour program that is internationally recognized and meets the requirements of professional standards as defined by the Pilates Method Alliance for Pilates Teacher Training.

The Lolita's Legacy Teacher Training Program is a comprehensive curriculum that covers the full mat repertoire and all Pilates equipment: both apparatus, and auxiliary in its entirety. You will learn the historical and contemporary exercises on Mat, Reformer, Cadillac / Trapeze, Chair, Barrels, Ped-o-Pull and auxiliary equipment (foam roller, circles, foot Corrector, etc.). Lolita’s Legacy is the only certified training program on the market today that was created by one of the two people Joseph Pilates certified in his method, Lolita San Miguel. Ms. San Miguel studied with Joe Pilates in the 1960’s and has been carrying on his legacy educating students on what was his traditional way and how the method has evolved into a more contemporary approach based on scientific discoveries on the safety and mechanics of the spine. The Method has changed very little in the past 50 years which is a credit to his genius but as sports sciences are making new discoveries Lolita San Miguel felt it was necessary to evolve to stay current and relevant.

Lolita’s Legacy produces open minded teachers that have a full understanding of the method, outstanding teaching skills and unconditional passion for the Pilates system to ensure its prosperous growth. To ensure the highest caliber of training Lolita personally trained a group of Pilates instructors called Lolita’s Disciples and of that group personally chose the educators she wanted to carry on her legacy.

Each training program is taught by a Legacy Educator in a boutique style intimate setting for small groups of ambitious students as they learn The Pilates Method.
